METHODOLOGICAL WORKSHOPS TO TRAIN PROFESSORS IN DISTANCE EDUCATION
Abstract
Distance Education is a system supported by technological and educational resources where students do not need to physically attend the classroom. Furthermore, academic responsibility is assumed by a certified institution which provides trained tutors and a virtual Internet campus in which the academic process unfolds. The greatest deficiencies in the use of this system are the way of conceiving, organizing and executing Distance Education, as well as the methodological resources that support it. Hence, this article aims to propose workshops for the methodological training in Distance Education of professors from the University of Sancti Spíritus "José Martí Pérez" (UNISS), who do not have the necessary knowledge concerning the use of this technology which is affecting its effective application.
In this paper, theoretical and empirical methods were used, which allowed us to know the historical evolution of the declared concepts and the potentialities and weaknesses of the sample. This article´s contribution is the elaboration of workshops for the methodological training in Distance Education for the professors from the university. These workshops promote the self-management of teacher learning and the creation of a reservoir of evidence that allows the updating and permanent improvement of the methodological training process of the teaching staff.
