NOTES ON THE HISTORICAL-CULTURAL HERITAGE OF NARCISA FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF A SCOPE-WIDENING PROJECT
Abstract
The importance of historical-cultural heritage preservation in Yaguajay municipality is illustrated through this research. Under the term heritage, the following aspects are subsumed: research, inventory, interpretation of material and immaterial objects, historical centers, monuments, buildings, furniture, works of art, documents, traditions, music, festivals as well as the setting of the abovementioned. The privilege of always telling its history has been given to the town of Narcisa. Its historical memory has been enriched for generations and it was studied by the Business and Scope-Widening Project: '' Preservation of Local and National Heritage in Yaguajay Communities '' in the period 2019-2020. This project´s purpose was to promote preservation and research actions in accordance with local actors. Thus, this paper aims to describe the work carried out by the project and its progress during the first stage of its execution hence contributing to promote local and national heritage preservation from the university-society alliance. The qualitative Research - Action method and the ethnological method were used as well as techniques such as observation, survey and interview. This methodology allowed to identify drawbacks and strengths which were key to elaborate a diagnosis of each site and monument along with an action plan for their restoration. This information was delivered to the Municipal Heritage Commission as a methodological tool for its job.
