THE BUSINESS PROCESS MANAGEMENT OF THE SCIENTIFIC AND TECHNICAL SERVICE: UNIVERSITY OF SANCTI SPÍRITUS WEB APPLICATION
Abstract
Not only does computerizing society's processes represent one of the fundamental aspects to face the challenges of an increasingly dynamic and interconnected world, but also it constitutes a challenge when conceiving the information systems that support said processes. This article deals with the Business Process Management Systems (BPMS) as a tool to manage the life cycle of business processes, facilitating their continuous improvement. The "Scientific-Technical Service" business process has been selected as a case study to develop a web application that allows the management of tasks and information handled during the process operation. The Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN) allowed both an effective communication by streamlining the web application development process from its design to its implementation. The use of BPMS for workflow implementation contributed to an increase in the process visibility and to faster maintenance tasks related to changes in the business structure or logic inherent to the continuous improvement process itself.
