Need for an institutional educational project: University Social Responsibility in a municipal university center.

Abstract

The university is the institution of higher education, teaching and research, where professionals in various specialties are trained. The municipal university centers are educational institutions attached to the provincial university headquarters, and constitute an environment close to the communities, which makes them conducive to citizen participation and education. University Social Responsibility takes shape in them, in various aspects that converge in the relationship between the particular, the singular and the general, with a positive social significance. The objective of this work is to argue the need to implement an institutional educational project based on University Social Responsibility in the Municipal University Center of Cardenas so that the university community can carry out the social responsibility of the institution and contribute to sustainable local development. The research has a dialectical-materialistic character and theoretical and empirical methods were used, such as: analysis-synthesis, abstract-concrete, historical-logical, systematization, scientific observation, interview and document review. The results showed that a project will favor community work, sociocultural management and will strengthen the link between university-community-society. It is concluded that an institutional educational project will enhance sociocultural development from a scientific vision, which will bring with it several direct impacts in the search for solutions to social, community and research problems, and will contribute to form the competencies of the sociocultural manager, which is key for his good performance in his personal life and in the labor market.
