Abstract
This paper´s purpose is to propose a set of tasks for the consolidation and management of the knowledge concerning environmental issues in day care facilities for the elderly in Jatibonico. This age group is constantly growing in our country, however, it is, to certain extent, marginalized from environmental education policies in the municipality of Jatibonico. Considering this situation and having as a precedent the established Senior Councils for the Environment, this research is focused on the aforementioned problematic. The research sample consisted of 50 members of the day care facilities for the elderly located in the 68th District of Jatibonico, as well as the corresponding physical culture technician and the municipal director of the Cuban Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment (CITMA). Some scientific methods such as the official documents revision were used for the theoretical-methodological foundation of the research and the elaborated proposal and the factual and perceptual diagnosis applied in the selected educational context. Finally, with the help of the specialists´ criteria which considered the different indicators as Very Adequate and Fairly Adequate, and using the Delphi method, the proposal could be validated. The proposal´s practical implementation allowed to reach higher levels of knowledge about the environment and to achieve the objectives through actions with a positive impact on the community.
