Abstract

Introduction: The website is a very effective tool to display information over the Internet. Among them are institutional websites, dedicated to providing information generally associated with the government, companies, private sectors, organizations and other areas. Universities are institutions where their website play a very important role.

The University of Sancti Spíritus "José Martí Pérez" did not have the required standards in terms of availability of information and visualization. From this fundamental problem, the objective of redesigning the institutional website is taken based on an adequate positioning of the information of the University of Sancti Spíritus and that facilitates work links with other national and international institutions, including the business sector.

Through theoretical and practical research methods to define the redesign of the new institutional website, the use of Content Management Systems stands out as a tool to be used, being demonstrated as its main advantage, the saving of time and effort to implement a website effective and adaptable to current country conditions.

As results and conclusions, it is possible to redesign the institutional website of the University of Sancti Spíritus, achieving an adequate positioning of the information and updating facilities.
