Educational communication for University Extension: action plan proposal for its development

Abstract

Introduction: The University Extension has an important role in the University-Society interaction; however, the idea of ​​seeing it more as a function than as a process in itself persists. There are difficulties from the communicative point of view to articulate it with the other substantive processes, called Research and Training. Educational communication actions can strengthen extension management.

Objective: to propose actions to manage the university extension process from educational communication.

Methods: Theoretical and empirical methods were used, which allowed the collection and processing of information in a selected sample of students and professors of the Social Communication major of the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Sancti Spíritus José Martí Pérez (Uniss), as well as authorities, workers and students from other educational institutions.

Results: Actions that facilitate the management of university extension as a process were provided.

Conclusion: The proposal constitutes a methodology focused on achieving the articulation of various elements that make up the extension process.
