EDUCATIONAL STRATEGY FOR VOCATIONAL GUIDANCE IN THE TENTH YEAR OF HIGHER BASIC EDUCATION

Vocational problematic constitutes a preventive work aimed at providing the necessary elements for the professional choice of students. The objective of the study is framed in designing an educational strategy for the development of vocational guidance in tenth-grade students at the Fiscal Uruguay Educational Unit in the city of Portoviejo, Ecuador. A total of 138 students and 7 teachers participated in the study. The study was based on the application of the Systematic Literature Review method and the Academic-Professional Basic Areas of Interest Questionnaire (CIBAP-2000) as a precedent for the development of the strategy. The results of the study show that students are inclined towards professions related to healthcare, economics and business, and scientific research, which helped students recognize their vocational interests. Based on these results, a didactic strategy was developed consisting of a basic action guide to address vocational and professional guidance. The study concludes that monitoring vocational and professional guidance of students is necessary for achieving good results. A thorough diagnosis allows for proposing actions and goals to address existing needs.
